Editing

I am a line editor, copyeditor, and developmental editor with 9 years of experience, and a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (see my profile here!).

For Items: Insights from the Social Sciences, I edited and curated a series called "Where Heritage Meets Violence." My introduction is here, and here's my contribution to the series. As a co-editor, I am currently coordinating a special issue of African Studies Review on rural radicalism.

Since 2018 I have been the editorial assistant for the Journal of Social Archaeology. I copyedit articles and coordinate with the editor-in-chief, authors, and production team to publish each issue.

Since 2015, I have worked as a freelance editor, mainly for academics in social sciences and humanities; I specialize in working with scholars who are writing in English as a second language. I have edited books, articles, grant applications, proposals, and other materials in fields from anthropology and archaeology to art history, law, urban studies, and even chemical engineering. I charge reduced rates for clients based outside of the Global North, and substantially reduced rates for clients from Rwanda. Please get in touch to discuss editing!
